Jennifaye V. Brown
PT, MSPT, PhD
Dr. Brown spent over 35 years as a clinician, community based researcher, and teacher (academic, clinical, and continuing education) focused in stroke neurorehabilitation across the continuum of care. Dr. Brown’s special interests and extensive clinical background included walking analysis and training and AFO (ankle foot orthosis or foot braces) fabrication and modifications. Her past research agenda explored the perceptions and opinions of individuals with stroke regarding their experiences with AFO fabrication, modification and maintenance. As an Advanced Credentialed Clinical Instructor by the Clinical Instructor Education Board and a four 10-year term board certified neurologic clinical specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Dr. Brown has taught in the neuromuscular curriculum at physical therapy (PT) and physical therapist assistant (PTA) programs in Georgia, Ohio, South Carolina (SC), and South Dakota. She presented information about neurorehabilitation at community support groups and conferences in addition to teaching continuing education courses for national and international healthcare entities. It is time to move on and be a movement specialist. If exercise/physical activity is medicine and food is medicine, Dr. Brown’s goal is to combine her expertise in these areas AND her experiences as a stroke survivor for healthy living and aging gracefully in the home, work and leisure spaces.
Rick Riley
Rick Riley committed the first 12 years of his career to working in hospital marketing and business development, and building relationships between hospitals and physician groups. He transitioned to working in the O&P Profession in 1995, serving as an executive and CEO for Townsend Design (now a subsidiary of Thuasne USA) until 2020. In 2011, he successfully navigated the company’s acquisition by Thuasne without any employees or contracted sales representatives being displaced. During his 25-year tenure the company grew from 45 to 275 employees.
In 2016, Rick led efforts for Thuasne to acquire Orthotic Composites, a small O&P workshop in London that was fabricating lightweight composite AFOs and KAFOs. Townsend’s SpryStep AFOs were introduced into an established marketplace for custom and OTS AFO, and the company quickly grew to one of the leading suppliers of composite AFOs in the United States. By 2019, annual revenues associated with sales of AFOs fabricated by Townsend in Bakersfield, California, exceeded more $10m, with the majority of sales concentrated in the O&P channel, and minor percentages in various physician and rehab channels. Rick is the owner of O&P Boost, a consulting company he founded in 2020 that provides
strategic support to international O&P start-ups entering the US market. His company also provides advisory and resource support to several USA and international medical manufacturing companies. Rick is currently completing his 10 th and final year on the Board of Directors for the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA). He served as the board president in 2025 and currently holds the position of immediate past-president. He also previously served on the Board of Directors for the California Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (COPA). Rick has been married to his wife, Dianne, for 36 years. Their three adult children all work in the healthcare industry.
